The lake was tranquil on a cold January morning. We were on a boat crossing Phewa Lake to get to the trail leading to the Peace Pagoda. The boatman pushed through gently, creating little ripples around his oar, nudging the boat forwards to an infinite horizon.
It was a moment to just be. And to put thoughts into words.
There is an unsung song in the calm waters of the lake. A song that belongs to no bird but of the quiet self and the world as it is, and before the world insists on what it must be. In that stillness there is a place where time is willing to bend and wait. Like the ripple across the surface, it is unhurried, alive, stirring. There, the lake ceases to be a place bound by maps. It becomes something more – an expansive state of being that breathes with you and through you. It is the rhythm of life itself, an unfolding of existence. And in that beautiful state a truth takes shape. To truly embrace the world beyond, I must know that I am not separate from it. I am not a visitor, I am not master of it. I am an atom in a molecule that strings together all the pieces. I am water and sky. I am ripple and silence. I am breath and being. I am depth and light. I am motion and stillness. I am everything, and I am nothing. And in that unity, there is no need to conquer or consume. There is only belonging, and with it, the grace to let it be.
Let it be.
